Merry Christmas!

My family and I usually have a very small, quiet Christmas celebration, and this year is no different.  My parents will come over for dinner, we'll all go to our church's Christmas Eve Service and then come back for dessert and gift exchange.  On Christmas Morning, my boys will wake up and enjoy a stocking surprise and gifts from us and their other grandparents who live out of state.  We enjoy a laid-back day with yummy food and just spending some quality time together.  I am definitely looking forward to celebrating the true reason for Christmas - Jesus' birthday and precious gift of salvation.

I pray you have a very Merry Christmas this year spent the way you want to spend it.

New Titles: Usborne Slot Together Castle

This new title is actually a bit of a throw-back from Usborne.  It's exciting that it's back and better than ever!  Usborne Slot Together Castle with an Usborne Book!

A book-shaped box containing twenty-one sheets of pre-cut EVA shapes, with 90 pieces in all. These pieces can be assembled again and again, they are thick and sturdy!  The 40-page Usborne book included shows you how to assemble your castle, what life is like there, information about people and weapons, and suggests battle scenes for your two armies.

Cuddle Bear Drive for Ohana Ministries, wrap-up

I just wanted to, once again, thank everyone that participated in my Cuddle Bear Drive.  Can I just say that my family and friends are amazing?!  They are.  Together, we were able to raise the money (matched 50% by Usborne Books & More!) for 21 Cuddle Bears and 21 Cuddle Bear books for the children of Ohana Ministries.

September is Childhood Cancer Awareness month and I wanted to do something special.  Since a portion of all sales of Cuddle Bear goes to the Scott Carter Foundation I knew I needed to start there.  So, I reached out to people I know, asking them to donate $25 to cover a set (book and bear) and so many stepped up, it was beautiful.  Then, we were able to use the UBAM grant matching program to get even more sets on top of that. 

I partnered with Ohana Ministries because I wanted to give back to an organization local to me that was helping to make a difference in the lives of kids.  Ohana is a foster care/adoption support ministry.  They work with families who are thinking of fostering, are already fostering/adopting, or families that are trying to keep their children in their homes.  These precious kids have been through so much in their lives, I just wanted them to have something extra to hold on to and to reassure them that they are truly loved.

Once the sets were delivered, I had the privilege of visiting with the organization during a support meeting.  The families were so sweet and grateful for the gifts, and the kids instantly fell in love with the bears and books!!!  I am thankful to my company, Usborne Books & More, for making this possible through the partnership they have with Scott Carter Foundation and the fantastic grant-matching program we offer!

Happy First Day of Fall!

Yes!  It's finally here.  I love Fall.  It's my favorite season!  Beautifully changing leaves, pumpkins everywhere (oh yes, I love me some pumpkins!), the scents, the tastes, the colors, the feeling!  I just love it!  So, happy Fall, y'all!!

Something about Fall makes me want to curl up with a coffee and a book!  How 'bout you?  If you need some suggestions on "Fall Reading," I'll be posting more about that soon!  Stay tuned.  Plus, I will be sharing mid-season new titles as soon as I get word. I already know one and it's AMAZING!  You're going to love it.

Fall is a fun time for my business because there are all kinds of Fall Festivals and Holiday Markets popping up that I will be participating in.  People start wanting to get together with their friends more (and hey, why not earn free books for that?).  I am excited about this season.  I hope you are, too! Celebrating 25 years of UBAM, National Convention 2014...

I spent this past weekend with my Usborne Buddies in Paradise (aka Tulsa, OK) for National Convention.  Usborne Books & More celebrated it's 25th Anniversary this year and they went CRAZY for convention.  It was so much fun.  Despite hotel issues (which were themselves cray-cray), the whole experience was just what I hoped.  I was able to further bond with some of my teammates, including new ones!  We got great training, received a bunch of new titles and just had a pure blast! I am definitely motivated to promote to Team Leader in the VERY near future and am definitely gonna work towards earning a trip to IRELAND!  Oh yes, bring it on!
